On the situation in Venezuela: Viet Nam calls on relevant parties to respect international law

(L&D) - Viet Nam calls on relevant parties to respect international law and the Charter of the United Nations, including the principles of respect for national sovereignty and the non-use or threat of use of force in international relations.

On 3 January 2026, in response to a question from a reporter requesting Viet Nam’s reaction to the current situation in Venezuela, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, Pham Thu Hang, stated:

“Viet Nam is deeply concerned about information related to the current situation in Venezuela. Viet Nam calls on relevant parties to respect international law and the Charter of the United Nations, including the principles of respect for national sovereignty and the non-use or threat of use of force in international relations.

Viet Nam calls on the parties to exercise restraint, engage in dialogue, and resolve disputes and differences on the basis of international law, thereby contributing to the maintenance of peace, security, stability, and cooperation in the region and around the world.

In view of the increasingly complex developments of tensions in Venezuela, which pose potential risks to the safety of citizens, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Vietnamese citizens to carefully consider travel to Venezuela at this time.

CVietnamese citizens currently in Venezuela should leave dangerous areas; regularly monitor information; strictly comply with the regulations of the host authorities regarding movement and with warnings issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (the Consular Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Embassy of Viet Nam in Venezuela).
