Solemn Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification

On the morning of April 30, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City solemnly held the Ceremony commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).
As a historical event of particularly important significance, the Ceremony was attended by senior leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, along with delegates from inside and outside the country. It is expected that General Secretary Tô Lâm will deliver an important keynote address; representatives of veterans who took part in the Hồ Chí Minh Campaign and representatives of the younger generation will also speak at the event.
After the ceremonial proceedings, the parade began with a performance by a squadron of helicopters carrying the Party flag and the National flag, accompanied by fighter squadrons of the Vietnam People’s Army flying over the skies of downtown Ho Chi Minh City.
Participating in the military parade and mass march were 38 formations of the armed forces (25 formations of the Army and militia; 13 formations of the Public Security forces) and 12 marching formations representing mass organizations. In addition, parade formations of the Armies of China, Laos, and Cambodia also took part in the program.

Also attending the Ceremony were Politburo members and former Politburo members; Secretaries and former Secretaries of the Party Central Committee; members and former members of the Party Central Committee; Vice Presidents and former Vice Presidents; Deputy Prime Ministers and former Deputy Prime Ministers; Vice Chairpersons and former Vice Chairpersons of the National Assembly; members of the Central Steering Committee for the commemoration of major anniversaries and significant historical events in 2025; leaders of ministries, central agencies, mass organizations, and Ho Chi Minh City; leaders of certain centrally-run provinces and cities; revolutionaries of the earlier generations; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces; Labor Heroes; generals of the people’s armed forces; representatives of soldiers, war veterans, former public security officers, former youth volunteers, former logistics workers at the frontlines; participants in the historic Hồ Chí Minh Campaign; and families of war invalids, martyrs, and those who rendered distinguished service to the nation.

Attending the Commemoration were high-level international delegations: the high-level delegation of the Party and State of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic headed by Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic; the high-level delegation of the Kingdom of Cambodia led by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Chairman of the Cambodian People’s Party, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia; the delegation of the Party and State of the Republic of Cuba headed by Comrade Salvador Valdes Mesa, Vice President of the Republic of Cuba; the delegation of the Republic of Belarus headed by Mr. Ipatau Vadzim, Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Belarus; the delegation of the Party and State of the People’s Republic of China headed by Comrade Bùi Kim Giai, Minister of Veterans Affairs; together with Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense of various countries, political parties, international organizations, Ambassadors, Heads of Missions, Defense Attachés of foreign countries in Vietnam, and numerous international friends who had supported Vietnam in its struggle for national liberation and national reconstruction.
