(L&D) - The military and public security forces of Vietnam may participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations and could contribute to ensuring security and social order in the Gaza Strip.

The working visit of General Secretary To Lam to attend the opening session of the Peace Council on the Gaza Strip marks the first major high-level multilateral diplomatic activity of our Party and State following the 14th National Party Congress.

This visit represents a concrete step in implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development as set out by the 14th Congress. Vietnam reaffirms its commitment to making active and responsible contributions to peace, cooperation, and sustainable development, while also proactively and responsibly engaging in addressing common regional and international issues.

According to Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, in line with the spirit of General Secretary To Lam’s recent article “Promoting Comprehensive Diplomacy at a New Level,” the “new level” in the current phase is demonstrated through this important multilateral diplomatic engagement. Through this activity, “we have shown our goodwill and efforts to contribute to promoting peace in the Middle East and to ensuring the fundamental national rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to establish a Palestinian state in the Middle East.”

The trip also helps strengthen Vietnam’s relations with the host country and international partners, including Middle Eastern nations.

The General Secretary exchanged views on Vietnam’s position regarding the Middle East peace process and the Palestinian issue, reaffirming the perspective and spirit of the Vietnamese nation — a nation that has endured great sacrifices and losses from war, and one that consistently strives for peace.

Therefore, international media and the host country’s press have highly appreciated Vietnam and General Secretary To Lam as a founding member of the Peace Council on the Gaza Strip, as well as the General Secretary’s participation in this meeting.

Public opinion views Vietnam’s participation as a clear demonstration of its foreign policy and its desire to contribute to global peace and development, as well as recognition and respect from the international community for Vietnam’s position and its capacity to contribute.

In his exchanges, the General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam would make practical contributions, such as participating in peacekeeping activities to help ensure stability in the Gaza Strip, as well as engaging in humanitarian assistance and post-conflict reconstruction efforts.

With the host country, General Secretary To Lam held a meeting with US President Donald Trump, received US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer, conducted phone calls with US legislators, and met with the Vietnamese community.

The Foreign Minister stated that in the coming period, Vietnam will conduct detailed studies and implement roadmaps for carrying out the peace plan along three major directions.

First, stabilizing the situation in the Gaza Strip and ensuring the implementation of the ceasefire. Second, launching a long-term reconstruction process for the Gaza Strip, beginning with meeting the essential needs of the people, restoring infrastructure, and gradually developing various economic sectors.

Third, building institutional foundations and enhancing the capacity, administration, and governance apparatus of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

“We will conduct specific studies to identify areas in which we can participate, as we have done in United Nations peacekeeping operations, where Vietnam has been highly appreciated by the United Nations. Our military and public security forces may take part in UN peacekeeping activities; police forces could contribute to ensuring security and social order in the Gaza Strip, or provide training for police forces there,” Minister Le Hoai Trung outlined.

Vietnam may also engage in humanitarian assistance and reconstruction activities — areas in which the country has substantial experience.

The Foreign Minister affirmed: “We will also contribute to the efforts of other international partners, including countries and international organizations, particularly United Nations bodies.

We will continue to participate in or support the efforts of countries within and outside the region to strengthen peace in the Middle East, peace and stability in the Gaza Strip, and especially to ensure the fundamental national rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to establish their own state.”
