Nghe An: Mr. Vo Trong Hai appointed as Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee

(L&D) - On the afternoon of November 18, the 18th Provincial People’s Council of Nghe An, term 2021–2026, held its 34th Session (special Session) to carry out personnel work within its authority.

Attending the session were comrades: Nguyen Khac Than – Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Hoang Nghia Hieu – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Nguyen Van Thong – former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, member of the Provincial People’s Council; Le Hong Vinh – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee; Vo Trong Hai – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Vo Thi Minh Sinh – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Head of the Provincial Delegation to the National Assembly; representatives of Local Affairs Department I, Central Organization Commission.

Also present were members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice-Chairpersons of the Provincial People’s Council and Provincial People’s Committee, members of the Provincial People’s Committee, delegates of the Provincial People’s Council, and leaders of provincial departments, agencies, and sectors.

At the session, the Provincial People’s Council conducted the election process for the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee for Comrade Vo Trong Hai – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.

Previously, under Decision No. 2525-QDNS/TW dated November 14, 2025, the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party decided that Comrade Vo Trong Hai – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee – would cease participating in the Party Committee and the Standing Committee and would resign from the position of Deputy Secretary of the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee for the 2025–2030 term; he was assigned and designated to participate in the Party Committee and the Standing Committee and to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee for the 2025–2030 term.

At the 34th session, with 100% of attending delegates approving by secret ballot, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Vo Trong Hai was elected by the Provincial People’s Council as Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee for the 2021–2026 term, replacing his predecessor, Comrade Le Hong Vinh.

Previously, the Provincial People’s Council had carried out the dismissal process of Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee for the 2021–2026 term for Comrade Le Hong Vinh due to reassignment by the competent authority. The Nghe An Provincial People’s Council approved resolutions confirming the results of the dismissal and electing the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee for the 2021–2026 term.

In his inaugural speech, the new Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee, Vo Trong Hai, expressed that he feels greatly honored to have been trusted and elected by the Provincial People’s Council as Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee for the 2021–2026 term.

Comrade Vo Trong Hai emphasized that this is a pivotal moment, requiring determination, innovation, and decisive action to achieve goals early and sustainably, thereby laying the foundation for the province’s next development phase. The most significant difference at this stage is operating under a two-level local government structure, implementing comprehensive digital transformation, shifting from a management mindset to a governance and service mindset, and promoting high growth while effectively managing development speed.

In his new position, he pledged to renew thinking and adopt flexible, creative, and decisive management methods to achieve practical results; to build a government that is principled, action-oriented, and service-focused, with citizens’ and businesses’ satisfaction as the measure of success; to promote growth based on innovation, digital transformation, and green transformation; to prioritize human development, improve people’s living standards, ensure social security, maintain discipline and stability; and to awaken the strength of broad national solidarity and foster a strong aspiration for advancement.
