(L&D) - On the morning of January 19, at the National Convention Center (Hanoi), the 14th National Congress of Delegates of the Communist Party of Viet Nam convened its preparatory session. The Congress takes place from January 19 to January 25, 2026, under the motto “Democracy – Discipline – Breakthrough – Development”.
With the motto “Democracy – Discipline – Breakthrough – Development”, the 14th National Congress of Delegates of the Party officially takes place in the Capital City of Hanoi from January 19 to January 25, 2026.
The theme of the Congress is: “Under the glorious flag of the Party, joining forces and acting in unity to realize the national development goals to 2030, self-reliant and self-confident, advancing firmly in the era of national advancement, for peace, independence, democracy, prosperity, affluence, happiness, and steady progress toward socialism”.
Attending the Congress are 1,586 delegates representing more than 5.6 million Party members. The 14th Congress will discuss and adopt important documents, including: the Political Report of the 13th Central Committee to the 14th National Congress of Delegates; the Report summarizing a number of theoretical and practical issues of the socialist-oriented renovation process over the past 40 years in Viet Nam; the Report summarizing 15 years of implementation of the Party Charter (2011–2025) and proposing orientations for amendments and supplements to the Party Charter; and the Report reviewing the leadership and direction of the 13th Central Committee.
Previously, at a press conference on the Congress held on the afternoon of January 14, Politburo Member and Standing Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu stated that, under the resolute leadership and direction of the Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and General Secretary To Lam, the preparation for the Congress had been completed with a spirit of innovation.
Regarding the preparation of the Congress documents, an important reform step was implemented by integrating three reports - the Political Report, the Socio-economic Report, and the Report summarizing Party building - into a single, unified, and coherent Political Report.
Standing Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu stated that the preparation of personnel for the 14th Central Committee was carried out by the 13th Central Committee and the Personnel Subcommittee of the 14th Congress in strict accordance with Party regulations, the principle of democratic centralism, legal provisions, and ensured to be “synchronized, scientific, methodical, rigorous, democratic, objective, transparent, promoting democracy and collective wisdom,” and to achieve a “harmonious and reasonable balance between standards and structure, between continuity and stability, and innovation and development.”
The Standing Member of the Secretariat emphasized that information and communication work on the 14th Party Congress had been deployed early, with specific plans, in a spirit of openness, transparency, democracy, and objectivity, accurately reflecting the determination of the Party and the aspirations of officials, Party members, and the people; creating highlights and strong impressions, contributing to consolidating confidence among officials, Party members, and the people in the Congress; and fostering unity within the Party and consensus in society.
