(L&D) - Alongside more than 23 million students nationwide, over 945,000 students in Nghe An Province attended the opening ceremony, joyfully welcoming the 2025–2026 school year. This year’s ceremony was held in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of National Education, now the Ministry of Education and Training (1945–2025), and was broadcast live from the National Convention Center to educational institutions across the country.

This opening ceremony was particularly special as it was held simultaneously nationwide, broadcast live on VTV1, and connected online to 52,000 educational and training institutions across the country, with the participation of approximately 1.7 million teachers and nearly 30 million students nationwide.

For the first time, all delegates, teachers, and students at educational institutions nationwide saluted the flag and sang the National Anthem simultaneously during the new school year opening ceremony. This special event marked a historic milestone for the education sector while creating a spirited start to the 2025–2026 school year. Delivering the commemorative and opening speech, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son emphasized that the start of the new school year also serves as an occasion to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the education sector and the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of National Education.

Leaders of the People’s Committee of Nghe An Province attended the opening ceremony at Nghe An Ethnic Boarding High School.

Education and training have never received as much attention and expectation from the Party and State as they do today; most importantly, the Politburo has recently issued Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthrough development in education and training.

This serves as an important political foundation to further promote the comprehensive and fundamental reform of education and training, which was established under Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW (2013) and further emphasized in Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW (2024).

The 2025–2026 school year is recognized as an important milestone, as the entire education sector implements the Politburo’s Resolution on breakthrough development in education and training, along with the amended laws in this field. The Nghe An education sector enters the new school year determined to maintain and build upon its achievements while striving to achieve more comprehensive and significant progress.

In the new school year, the Nghe An education sector will prioritize the implementation of several key policies: phased tuition fee exemptions; universal education for children aged 3 to 5; gradually making English the second language in schools; introducing Lao language instruction for students in border areas; and enforcing the Law on Teachers.

The education sector has also designated the theme for the 2025–2026 school year as: “Modernization, Breakthrough Development, Innovation, Sustainable Connectivity, Ready to Enter a New Era of Growth.”

Accordingly, Nghe An’s education sector will focus on three key tasks and seven breakthrough solutions, emphasizing the application of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation in teaching and learning. This is considered an important driving force to improve the quality of education and meet the development and integration requirements in the new period.
