(L&D)-Compact in appearance, yet the practicality and daily operating costs of the VF 3 offer many unexpected benefits for Vietnamese customers.
By August 2025, more than 28,700 VinFast VF 3 units had been sold on the market. This is the highest figure, securing the VF 3’s position as the best-selling car in the entire Vietnamese automobile market. Mr. Nam Tien (Ho Chi Minh City) is one of the customers who contributed to this achievement for the Vietnamese automaker.
The VinFast VF 3 is the first car owned by Mr. Nam Tien’s family.
The VF 3 is Mr. Tien’s first car. Like the majority of Vietnamese people, motorcycles used to be the familiar means of transportation for him and his family, which includes his wife and a young child. However, since acquiring the VF 3, the VinFast electric car has become their primary daily vehicle for both work and longer trips.
“Many people think the VF 3 is only for getting around the city, but for me, it works perfectly for both short and long trips. In addition to driving to work every day, I sometimes go to the city center, and occasionally take family trips to Nha Trang or to Tien Giang in the Mekong Delta,” Mr. Tien shared.
Purchasing the VinFast VF 3 in early 2025, Mr. Tien has driven more than 23,000 km after about eight months. He travels around 30–40 km each day and only needs to recharge once every four to five days. With its 18.64 kWh battery pack, the VinFast model offers a driving range of up to 215 km—more than sufficient for daily needs.
According to Mr. Tien, since owning the VF 3, he has not had to worry about charging costs because VinFast is offering free charging for customers until the end of June 2027. Even after the promotion ends, based on the company’s announced rate of VND 3,858 per kWh, a full charge would cost only about VND 72,000. This charging expense is even cheaper than fueling a high-end scooter such as the Honda SH 150 or Vespa Sprint 150 to cover an equivalent distance.
Mr. Tien considers the VF 3 to be cost-efficient and convenient for both daily use and long-distance travel.
In recent months, Mr. Tien has almost exclusively charged his car at public stations because there is a VinFast charging post near his workplace. Even on long trips, charging is just as convenient. During a family vacation to Nha Trang, he stopped to charge about twice and found it very easy to locate stations, as the information is fully displayed on navigation apps. Mr. Tien added that electric car users can easily combine entertainment or dining while charging at shopping centers in the city or at rest stops on longer journeys.
The convenience of the charging infrastructure is one of the reasons he chose a VinFast vehicle, specifically the VF 3. “There are many other options on the market, but with the advantage of free and convenient charging for owners, VinFast is still number one,” he said.
With its compact exterior, easy maneuverability in urban areas, and an interior spacious enough to carry four adults, Mr. Tien described the VF 3 as “small but mighty.” When purchasing the VF 3, he had the full support of his wife. Both agreed that VinFast’s electric car fits their family’s financial capability and needs. For his wife, a particularly appealing aspect of the VF 3 is its stylish, charming design, which stands out from any other model currently on the market.
The VF 3’s practicality and low operating cost are seen as a bridge for motorcycle users like Mr. Tien to transition to car ownership.
According to industry experts, the market had long been waiting for a “benchmark” model like the VF 3. When VinFast introduced the VF 3 with numerous features meeting the demands of customers like Mr. Tien, the car’s explosive sales were considered “inevitable.”
