In the presence of leaders of the Party, the State, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and National Assembly deputies, Chief Justice Nguyen Van Quang declared: “Under the sacred red flag with the golden star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly, and the entire electorate of the nation, I — Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam — solemnly swear to remain absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the People, and to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, and to make every effort to fulfill the duties entrusted to me by the Party, the State, and the People.”

In his inaugural remarks following the oath-taking ceremony, newly elected Chief Justice Nguyen Van Quang expressed his sincere gratitude to the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, General Secretary To Lam, and leaders of the Party and the State for entrusting him with this new responsibility, as well as to the National Assembly for electing him to the position of Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court.

Chief Justice Nguyen Van Quang affirmed that, as the head of the highest judicial body, he will strictly adhere to the leadership of the Party and fully comply with the principles of the Constitution and the law. He stated that he will “work together with the political system and judicial bodies to safeguard justice, human rights, and citizens’ rights; protect the socialist regime; and defend the interests of the State and the lawful rights and interests of organizations and individuals.”

He stated that he will continue to cultivate himself, learn from the experience of former Chief Justices, and uphold the sense of responsibility and exemplary conduct expected of the head of the judiciary. “Together with the Party Committee, the leadership of the Supreme People’s Court, and the Council of Judges, we will remain united, inheriting and further advancing the achievements the sector has built over the past 80 years,” he said.

Chief Justice Nguyen Van Quang stressed that the court sector will accelerate judicial reform, build the socialist rule-of-law state, and improve the legal system, thereby contributing to national development in the new period. At the same time, the Supreme People’s Court will focus on Party building in parallel with institutional strengthening, streamlining the apparatus, enhancing operational effectiveness, tightening discipline and order, and developing a team of upright, professional officials and judges who can meet the demands of their duties.

He expressed his hope to continue receiving the attention, leadership, and direction of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the General Secretary, and Party and State bodies, as well as the support and oversight of the National Assembly, its deputies, and the People regarding the operations of courts at all levels.
