(L&D) - The Final Round of the 2025 Law Student Debate Competition featured numerous lively debates among the contestants and concluded with the champion being identified as contestant Nguyen Thu Hien from Foreign Trade University.

On the evening of September 15, the Final Round of the 2025 Law Student Debate Competition took place at the auditorium of the Vietnam Women’s Academy in Hanoi, featuring the participation of the 10 most outstanding contestants.

The finalists had to go through two segments of the competition: the Counter-Argument Debate, where contestants engaged in direct group debates; and the Advanced Debate, which required contestants to demonstrate in-depth analytical skills and independent legal reasoning.

The debate topics addressed a wide range of current issues, including: protecting children in cyberspace, gender equality in the digital era, robot lawyers and emerging legal challenges, authentication of legal documents in the digital age, online trials, and virtual legal assistants.

The competition attracted a large number of experts, lecturers, and students with a passion for the field of law.

The two segments not only challenged the contestants’ quick and sharp critical thinking abilities but also required stage presence and confidence in communication from each participant.

The judging panel consisted of legal experts, lecturers, and experienced lawyers, along with a large audience of students, faculty members, sponsors, and representatives of partner organizations.

The judging panel of the competition’s final night comprised lecturers, experts, and lawyers.

Dr. Kieu Thi Thuy Linh – Deputy Head and Acting Head of the Faculty of Law, Vietnam Women’s Academy – emphasized: “We hope the competition will serve as an intellectual arena where law students can cultivate their courage, determination, and aspiration to contribute to nation-building in the digital era.”

After overcoming intense and persuasive debates in the Counter-Argument segment, contestant Nguyen Thu Hien (Foreign Trade University) continued to make a strong impression in the Advanced Debate segment.

Contestant Nguyen Thu Hien excellently claimed the championship title in the final night.

Thu Hien’s speech captivated both the judging panel and the audience, earning the female student from Foreign Trade University the championship title of this year’s competition. The first runner-up titles went to Nguyen Thanh Luan (Hanoi Open University) and Mai Ha Chi (Hanoi Law University).

The 2025 Law Student Debate Competition marked the 10th anniversary of the establishment and development of the Faculty of Law at the Vietnam Women’s Academy, while also celebrating the start of the 2025–2026 academic year.

This event was not only an academic playground but also a journey of intellectual enlightenment and student empowerment, fostering generations of confident and resilient students equipped with the ability to articulate and defend their viewpoints to the fullest.
